I lost my cellphone, apparently I left it on the backseat of a taxi I caught from Norwich International Airport to home on Friday night. It is quite a nice phone, a Nokia N95, one that I wouldn’t want to loose… But the important thing is the phone numbers I have stored in it’s memory and the photographs I have taken with it and not backed up.
I didn’t even register that I had lost it until I got an email from You Get It Back a truly fantastic company founded on the principle that most people are honest. I stuck a You Get It Back sticker on my Nokia a few months ago after I got a free sample, the sticker has a simple message - Reward for Return and a freephone number.
The sticker worked and a nice gentleman who took the taxi after me, found the phone, read the sticker, made a call and the rest is history. People are basically honest and if you make it easy for them to be honest they do the right thing. You Get It Back claim a 75% success rate in getting your property back.
I just ordered a big stack of You Get It Back stickers and luggage tags because I love products that work and I like being reminded that most of us are nice people most of the time.
